The RSPCA is a well-established organization that has worked to improve the conditions of farm animals for many years. The RSPCA is convinced that we can do more today to improve the treatment of farm animals, regardless of what people choose to eat, whether it’s eggs or meat. We believe this by getting involved and encouraging governments and industry to implement better standards for animal welfare on farms.

What is humane food, exactly? The RSPCA believes that the laws do not go far enough in regard to farm animal treatment. Higher welfare farms have production standards that go beyond the law and take into account animals’ needs as living and feeling beings. It means that Australia’s intensively farmed animals, such as pigs, chickens, and hens, which produce eggs and meat, are raised in an environment where they can express their natural behavior.
